You know when you're walking from the West to the East (we won't be returning to the West) because you can see the difference in and on the buildings. The East is more vibrant and colourful, with a louder voice that's beautifully expressed in graffiti everywhere. Ironically it's like now the East has more freedom of speech.

The East's landmark, the Fernsehturm (TV Tower) can be seen from everywhere and unlike the oppressive Prussian Victory statues, it looks down on you like a friend telling you where you are. It was obviously the GDR's attempt to build something more impressive than the West, and looks like it was designed in the 1920s for a science fiction film - part of a Fritz Lang film set, which manages to look both dated and futuristic. Truly awesome.

At night on Orienburger Strasse, you can see the Berlin prostitutes strut the streets. They're the best ladies of the night I've ever seen, wearing ridiculously high heels and corsets with perfect iron straight or curly hair, looking uncannily like Girl's Aloud. I thought there were only 5 members, but it appears that there are actually over 20.
